JBLCF-Bacolod Deck Cadet Tops IAMU-Student Conference Research Presentation

On October 14, 2017, a female future seafarer from JBLCF-Bacolod garnered victory for the Philippines at the recently concluded International Association of Maritime Universities (IAMU)-Student Conference Research Presentation in Varna, Bulgaria. 

D/C Aezel Segovia, a BSMT NSA scholar, impressed panelists with her paper presentation to garner 1st place in the competition. 2nd place went to Georgia and 3rd place to USA (New York).The IAMU-Student Conference brings together students from top maritime universities all over the world. As proclaimed winner, D/C Segovia was asked to present her paper again at the plenary session for IAMU where global maritime industry representatives were present. 

For her distinct performance and presentation, she was further awarded another certificate to commend her “artistic self-improvement” which prompted a Romanian Coordinator of GECAMET to applaud her interesting research paper and excellent command of English.

For this research competition, D/C Segovia was mentored by members of the JBLCF- Bacolod community namely Dr. Emeliza Estimo, Research Coordinator, together with her Technical Team: C/M Alex Tan, 2/E Charles Mangga, Joanna Gudio, Darlene Sabandal and Dr. Ruby Causing. D/C Segovia joined two other representatives from JBLFMU-Molo and JBLFMU-Arevalo, Mdpn. Denver Vasquez and Mdpn, John Carl Tagulalap for this IAMU Student Conference in Bulgaria.
