In search for the cadets who truly possess the Lacsonian values for 2016, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University-Molo (JBLFMU-M)  held its  annual Unit Model Cadets Selection during the  Mission Objective Week, September 21.

After thorough deliberation and series of screenings, Mdpn. Gypsy T. Plana, Mdpn. John Godwin F. Nallada, and Mdpn. Julius O. Duran were selected as the unit model cadets to represent JBLFMU-M to the System Model Cadet selection for the upcoming foundation week.

“I am very grateful for being hailed as one of the unit model cadets of JBLFMU-M. I offer my success to my family and God. Indeed, it is such a great experience and a challenge to represent the school in the system selection,” said Mdpn. Plana.

Mdpn. Plana and Mdpn. Nallada reaped the Best in Interview and Best in Talent special awards respectively.

The top 10 aspiring cadets were judged according to their achievements and awards, leadership, community involvement, coin for a cause collection, performance in self-introduction, showcase of talent, and conceptual and situational interview.

“Being a model cadet gives one not only the title but also the responsibility to be looked up to as an epitome of a maritime student who embodes the ideals of Capt. Juan Bautista Lacson and live by the core values,” said Mdpn. Nallada.

This annual selection looks for the best performing cadets excelling in public speaking, showing of abilities and skills, and extemporaneous speaking among Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering  and Bachelor of Science Marine Transportation students.

The three will compete for the most coveted System Model Cadet title where they will be competing against the top 3 Model Cadets from JBLFMU Arevalo and JBLCF Bacolod.
