JBLFMU and SM Delgado partner for Gift-giving

Identified indigent residents of Nueva Valencia, member-fisherfolks of the Poblacion Nueva Valencia Multi-Purpose Cooperative, and street children from Iloilo and their families, will indeed have a merry Christmas this year.

JBLFMU through the help of SM Delgado Iloilo will make possible the simplest of dreams of our less fortunate brothers and sisters in Guimaras and Iloilo.  The company donated P398,402.75 worth of clothes, bags, shoes, accessories, toys for all ages and gender, and some household materials for the annual gift-giving activity the university does during the Christmas season.

Ms. Mary Mar Esmana, Community Extension Services Officer of the university, said that the support is an overwhelming privilege given to their project. Every year her office conducts a gift giving activity in Guimaras, and a Christmas Party and gift-giving for the street children on Christmas Day at the residence of the President Emeritus, Dr. Mary Lou Lacson Arcelo in Molo, Iloilo City. Here, with assistance of personal funding from Dr. Mary Lou, more than 600 children go home with a smile. This year she said, it became more special because of the help of SM Delgado. It is expected that recipients will include more than 800 of the less fortunate.

Last Friday, December 16, the donation was segregated and packed for the scheduled gift-giving.  Dr. Ronald Raymond Lacson Sebastian, Chief Executive Officer, personally supervised the activity to ensure that the donations reach the expected recipients. He said that he and the JBLFMU community are very grateful for the help extended by the benevolent hearts behind SM Delgado Iloilo.
