The Department of Trade and Industry awarded John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University-Molo students second and third places on DTI Best Feature Story held at Iloilo Convention Center last October 3, 2016.

As one of the activities of Negosyo, Konsyumer ATBP (NKATBP), DTI implemented this event inviting all high schools, universities, and colleges across all regions of the Philippines. NKATBP is a means for the DTI to communicate to the people in the most impactful way through the actual provision of DTI’s integrated services.

Furthermore, the required feature story must compose of a non-fiction tale with an inspiring and moving rags-to-riches plot that occurred through DTI’s MSME Development programs and services.

Among a total of 25 participants from region six, Aime Hope P. Balico and Mdpn. Steven O. Tajonera  bagged the second and third places, respectively.

“It is a blessing that the third place award for the Best Feature Story was given to me. Bringing honor to this institution has always been my aspiration. Honestly, I never expected the award but when the DTI Provincial Office of Iloilo contacted us, it had been a very good sign in itself. Without us really knowing, DTI has been doing its very best to serve MSMEs to have progress in the field of business and entrepreneurship. There were such heart-touching stories which greatly reflect the hard-work, perseverance, and passion among entrepreneurs across the region. Those stories teach and encourage the young generation to be one of the successful innovators of this country,” stated Mdpn. Tajonera.

From the total number of participants from the region, eight finalists were chosen to be screened for the top three. The winners, including all eight finalists were given generous cash prize awards and a certificate of recognition for their work.
