Thesis/Dissertation Writing Policies and Procedure

Policies

 

1.For the master’s level, the research committee shall be composed of the adviser, a chair, two experts in the specialization area, a CHED representative (optional) and the dean.

2.For the doctoral level, the research committee shall be composed of the adviser, a chair, three experts in the specialization area, a CHED representative (optional) and the dean.

3.An adviser is allowed no more than five (5) advisees at a time.

4.The adviser should be available to the advisee for consultation as agreed upon.

5.As much as possible, consultation should be done within the premises of the school.

6.Only the official editor has the authority to edit the t/d manuscript

7.The LAST DAY for final defense is as follows:

Saturday of the first week of September – for first semester graduates

Saturday of the first week of February – for second semester graduates

Saturday of the first week of April – for summer graduates

 

8.Bound copies of the t/d are submitted to the dean’s office not later than one (1) month prior to graduation.

9. Thesis writing fee, adviser’s fee and research committee honorarium are paid to and disbursed by the cashier’s office (c/o Graduate School). All other payments are personally disbursed by the t/d writer.

 

Procedure

 

1.Upon enrolment in t/d writing, the student confers with the dean on the choice of adviser, research topic/problem and members of the research committee.

2.The student, in consultation with the adviser, prepares a proposal (chapter 1, tentative chapter 2, chapter 3 and tentative reference list) and submits the same to the dean.

3.Upon application by the student and endorsement by the adviser, the dean schedules the preliminary defense.

4.The student gives a copy of the proposal to each member of the committee at least seven (7) days before the scheduled preliminary defense.

5.Upon application by the student and endorsement by the adviser, the dean schedules the final defense.

6.The student gives a copy of the t/d for final defense to each member of the committee at least ten (10) days before the scheduled defense.

7.As soon as the inputs made by the research committee are integrated in the t/d, the student, with the endorsement of the adviser and the rest of the members of the committee, submits the paper to the dean for editing approval.

8.With the endorsement of the adviser and the rest of the committee, and with the dean’s approval, the final copy of the t/d is reproduced for binding.

9.Four (4) bound copies of the t/d are submitted to the dean’s office not later than one (1) month prior to graduation.
