1.  Maritime Art Contest
Guidelines and Criteria of the Maritime Art Contest

1.1. Guidelines
• The contest is open to all amateur and professional artists.
• Participants must fill up and submit a registration form. Forms can be availed from any of the following:

a. JBLFMU ARTDECK Gallery, M.H. del Pilar Street, Molo, Iloilo City. Please look for Larry Dumagat

NOTE: Forms will be available for download starting December 20, 2016
• Registration fee is free.
• Participants can submit only one entry on a mounted 18” x 24” or 24"x 24" canvas.
• Medium for the painting must be either in acrylic or oil only.
• All entries must depict the Philippine Maritime context (seascapes, marine ecology, seafaring, etc.)
• Deadline for submission of entries is January 16, 2016. All entries must be submitted to the ARTDECK Cafe.
• ARTDECK will not accept entries that are unfinished works such as wet works; works that have been submitted to any other painting competition locally or internationally.

1.2 Judging of entries:
• Social Media (Facebook) judging shall be from January 17 to noon of January 24, 2017.
• Entries to be posted on Facebook with votes cast on one (1) choice per account
• Final judging (3 judges) shall be on January 24, 2017, 3pm the Art Deck Gallery.
• All entries at the discretion of the ARTDECK management will be exhibited in the Gallery and with approval of the artist / owner will be subject for sale.
• Winning entries will be exhibited at the ARTDECK Gallery for at least 6 months.
• Non-winning entries will be made available to the ARTDECK Gallery for exhibit for a period of at least 1 month.
• Price of each painting shall be at the curator’s recommendation but at the artist’s discretion.
• ARTDECK shall have a 30% commission on the sale price per entry sold.

1.3 Criteria

• FB / Social Media judging shall have no defined criteria, and shall comprise 10% of total points
• Judges of the Jan. 24, 2017 judging shall follow the criteria below and their collective judgment shall comprise 90% of the total points:

Criteria:
Content and Concept 40%
Originality 30%
Technical Execution 30%
TOTAL 100%

Prizes:
1st Prize Php 10,000.00
plus a museum art piece from the JBLFMU President Emeritus
2nd Prize Php 10,000.00
3rd Prize Php 7,000.00
7Consolation Prize Php 1,000.00 Top 4-10.
 
 
 
2       On-The-Spot Camera Phone Photography Contest (Student & Alumni)
  2.1 Guidelines 

• Participants must be an enrolled student or an alumni of any of the three academic Units (JBLFMU- Molo, JBLFMU-Arevalo, JBLCF- Bacolod)
• A minimum of ONE (1) and maximum of FIVE (5) student-participants per academic unit is required. Only one entry is allowed per participant.
Number of alumni-participants are unlimited.

2.2 Registration:

• Registration forms shall be made available on the day of the contest. 
• Upon registration, participants must show their student I.D. or Alumni I.D. No I.D. no participation.
• Digital manipulation that distorts the reality of the images will not be allowed. Only basic enhancements such as sharpening, contrast adjustment, or simple cropping will be allowed.
• The photograph must not contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.
• Photo composition must revolve around the theme – Strengthing the Philippines as a Maritime Nation.

2.3 Contest Mechanics:

• The competition shall commence with a briefing on rules (time constraints, specific areas where the pictures may be taken, picture resolution, media to be submitted, etc.). This will be done on January 23, 2017, 10am at the JBLFMU Arevalo (venue announcement to be posted at the main administrative offices lobby.
• Mechanics will be announced during the briefing:
• Time frame: Competition shall be from the end of the Contest Briefing up to 4 PM upon which entries must be submitted. 
• Entry submissions shall be digital in any pixel size (through phone/camera direct USB connection, wifi or flash drive.
• JBLFMU shall print in entry-photographs in JPEG or PNG format printable to A4 size photo paper for the judging.
• Entries may be taken in any location provided that the time constraint is strictly adhered to. To ensure that the photographs are current, the time stamp will be subject to review (all participants must ensure that the time stamp on their DSLR cameras & camera phones are set to “ON”)
• The printed copies shall be retained by JBLFMU.
• Judging will be done at JBLFMU Arevalo at 10:00 AM, January 24, 2017.

Criteria
Entries will be judged based on the following criteria:

Content and Concept (interpretation of the theme) 40%
Creativity & Originality 25%
Technical Execution 25%
Artistic Merit (Visual Impact) 10%
TOTAL 100%

Prizes are as follows:
1st Prize PhP 5,000.00
2nd Prize PhP 3,000.00
3rd Prize PhP 2,000.00

Video Making Contest (Students)

3.1 Guidelines

• Participants must be studentsof any of the three academic Units (JBLFMU- Molo, JBLFMU-Arevalo, JBLCF- Bacolod)
• A minimum of ONE (1) maximum of FIVE (5) per academic unit is required.
• The video must not contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.
• The entry must be a 60-seconder JBLFMU Marketing Video

3.2 Registration:

Registration forms shall be made available on the day of the contest. 
Upon registration, participants must show their student I.D. No I.D. no participation.

3.3 Contest Mechanics:

• Raw materials should be taken before the contest proper. Footages must be saved in a 
flashdisk/hard drive and be submitted to the Media Production Center on January 20, 2017 at 4pm.
• The editing will be done on January 23, 2017 10am-4pm during the contest proper.
• Judges will base rendered output to raw file.
• The competition shall commence with a briefing on rules (time constraints, specific areas where the pictures may be taken, picture resolution, media to be submitted, etc.)
• Briefing is scheduled at 9:00 AM, January 24, 2017 at JBLFMU-Arevalo (venue announcement to be posted at the main administrative offices lobby.
• Mechanics will be announced during the briefing:
• Time frame: Competition shall be from the end of the Contest Briefing up to 4:00pm.
• Other conditions to be announced to ensure that the video-entries are taken within the stipulated competition period.
• Participants shall being their own laptops/desktops for editing.
• Outputs for submission should be in MP4 format.
• The video-entries shall be retained by JBLFMU.
• Judging will be done at the JBLFMU Arevalo at 10:00 AM, January 24, 2017.

Entries will be judged based on the following criteria:

Only three (3) winners will be selected from the entries and they will receive:
