President Emeritus and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University, Dr. Mary Lou L. Arcelo was bestowed the Juran Award by the Philippines Society for Quality (PSQ).

The prominent award is for the recognition of persons who have enormous contributions for the outstanding application of effective quality management.

The Juran Award is in the honor of Dr. Joseph M. Juran, who was the first to incorporate the human aspect of quality management which is referred to as Total Quality Management and made many significant contributions to the field of quality management worldwide.

Dr. Arcelo's unremarkable resolution and great passion for providing quality education, her exemplary management skills, her dedication and love to JBLF System became her stepping stone to be worthy of the prestigious Juran Medal.

Among the evidences of her profound leadership is that the institution was able to provide creditable graduates out of quality education and also build many strong linkages from different national and international shipping companies that provide future employment of the students.

The award was given last September 16, 2011 at EDSA Shangri-La Hotel, Philippines.
