In its commitment to academic, professional, and research excellence, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc. held a benchmarking activity with the Northern Iloilo State University (NISU) at the Research and Extension Conference Hall of NISU Estancia West Campus, April 8.

Representing the unit was Dr. Brian Gil Sarinas, OIC-Director, Research & Development and Community Extension Services, and selected JA department heads, while NISU was represented by their Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Larry Deysolong and his team.

Activities of the benchmarking involved the NISU Campus experts' initiatives on research, knowledge, management, innovation, technology transfer, Intellectual Property Office (IPO), and community extension services (CES).

Moreover, the institutions signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), for partnership among agreed collaborations in the joint research and extension programs, faculty, staff, and student exchanges, capacity building and professional development, innovation and knowledge-sharing, disaster risk reduction and resilience initiatives, and intellectual property and research collaboration.

This milestone reflects the universityโ€™s commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal (UNSDG) 4 - Quality Education and UNSDG 17 - Partnerships for the Goals.
