John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc. welcomed Class Sinagtala one more time as they took center stage during the 78th Commencement Exercises yesterday at the universityโs covered court.
A total of 14 candidates for Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BSCrim) and 84 candidates for Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) formally received their degrees, alongside 607 candidates for Completed Classroom Instruction (CCI) leading to BSMT.
Serving as commencement speaker, Capt. Date Dalipe delivered a message centered on ambition and perseverance, urging graduates to aim high despite uncertainties.
โSabi nila, โang buhay ay hindi karera.โ But honestly, I strongly disagree. Life is a raceโnot against other people, but against time. Hindi na mabalik ang oras. You cannot bring back missed opportunities. You cannot stop your parents from growing oldโฆ Time will not wait for you to be ready,โ he said.
Angelo Mari A. Gonzales, Officer-in-Charge of Navigational Watch (OIC-NW) and Most Outstanding Graduate, delivered a heartfelt tribute to parents, recognizing their sacrifices and unwavering support throughout the studentsโ journey.
Meanwhile, Mdpn. Prince Ezekiel T. Moreira, Most Outstanding Cadet-CCI, led the Graduatesโ Prayer, which preceded the classโ performance of their graduation hymn and batch song.
The ceremony brought together various stakeholders, including university heads, shipping company representatives, and key government agencies such as the Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), the Philippine Navy, and the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Among the attendees were the proud parents and supporters of the graduates and completers, whose presence amplified the significance of the ceremony.
