In celebration of the National Maritime Week 2024, 45 students from John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc. actively participated in the Mangrove Planting Program held this morning at Esplanade 9.
Spearheaded by the Philippine Coast Guard Region VI and together with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources, the event was joined by different universities, government agencies, and clubs in Iloilo City.
The Maritime Industry Authority, 601st Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary, Western Institute Technology, St. Therese-MTC Colleges, Women in Maritime Philippines, and Iloilo Titans Eagles Club along with the organizations from JBLFMU-A contributed more than 200 students in the said activity.
This annual event conceptualizes the true essence of celebrating the National Maritime Week, which is to recognize the importance and contributions of the maritime industry in the nation’s economy and society, by fostering camaraderie through environmental programs.
