John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc. Disaster Risk Reduction Unit (JBLFMU-A DRRU) conducted its first MOA signing and benchmarking activity to strengthen its best practices, initiatives, and strategies from Capiz State University's Disaster Risk Reduction Management (CAPSU-DRRM) on October 9-10 held at Roxas City, Capiz.
The visit took place in the Boardroom of Central Administration Building at CAPSU Main Campus attended by Mr. Robert O. Parcia, MSMM, JBLFMU-Arevalo Administrator; Dr. Leonara Saul, IMR Representative; Dr. Brian Gil Sarinas, Research Coordinator; and Capt. Jorge Aborde, System Safety Officer and Curriculum Developer.
Present in the MOA signing are CAPSU President Dr. Efren L. Linan, Dr. Wennie F. Legario, Vice President for Administration and Finance; Dr. Leo Andrew B. Biclar, Officer-in-Charge for Research, Development and Extension; Dr. Arnel Van Aleligay, DRRM Director; Dr. Elmer M. Albaladejo, National Service Training Program (NSTP) Director; Dr. Cherry Anne M. Deang, University Budget Officer; DRRM and NSTP staff.
The two-day activity includes briefing on the CAPSU DRRM roadmap and site visits to campuses known for flood risk management, food risk security, and Indigenous People (IP) Preparedness through a formalized MOA signing.
2/M Karl Danielle H. Sira, MSMM, CCSSM and Arevalo Unit Safety Officer; 2/M Abcede A. Bangalisan II, MSMM, and Arevalo Unit Board Of Discipline headed this initiative along with the nine DRRU officers present to come together with their counterpart positions from different campuses and satellite colleges.
CPSU DRRM roadmap and visit includes nine campuses and state colleges named Capiz State University Main Campus and later on paid a visit to PDRRMO provincial, Capiz State University Pontevedra, Pillar Satellite College, Dayao Satellite College, Panitan Satellite College, Sigma Satellite College, Satellite Mambusao College, Burias Campus, and Tapaz Satellite Campus.
Moreover, the team aims to develop partnerships with the different campuses with various national award-winning DRRM such as Gawad Kalasag Panitan LGU in enhancing their strategies.
It was also known last September 20, Dr. Arnel Van V. Aleligay, Director of the DRR Unit from CAPSU, made a significant visit in preparation for important benchmarking activities which aims for collaboration and innovation, research extension, and internationalization through partnerships with various DRR organizations.
