Midshipman Charles Ghale Villanueva, The Dolphin publicationโ€™s illustrator, bagged third place in the first ever UNESCO Asia-Pacific Network of International Education and Values Education (APNIEVE) Philippines National Digital Poster Making Contest.

His artwork entitled "The Power of Knowledge: Paving the way to Global Peace", greatly aligned with this year's theme, "Education for Lasting Peace: Empowering Values Education & International Education for Peace, Justice, & Inclusion."

"Nelson Mandela, Malala Yousafzai, and Mahatma Gandhi are the prominent figures in global peace and education I chose for this illustration because they are known for their advocacy of peace and education as tools for social change. Their inclusion reinforces the message that education can inspire individuals to become agents of peace and justice," Mdpn. Villanueva explained.

The contest was held during the second International Conference and 23rd National Convention of the UNESCO-APNIEVE Philippines last November 22-24.

APNIEVE is a UNESCO-affiliated non-profit organization that aimed to promote peace, human rights, democracy, sustainable development, and intercultural understanding among the countries in Asia Pacific Region.
