John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation (Bacolod) is moving to strengthen its sustainability efforts by proposing the establishment of a JBLCFB Slow Food Community, following a preliminary meeting with Slow Food Negros yesterday, August 17, in the institutionβs conference room.
Spearheaded by Angela Joy J. Tupas, a BSHM 4 Bravo student and fellow BS Hospitality Management students, the meeting brought together the school administrator, department heads, and Ms. Reena Gamboa, spokesperson for Slow Food Negros and a member of Slow Food International.
The proposed initiative promotes local food heritage, sustainable food practices, responsible consumption, and community engagement through the Slow Food Movementβs βGood, Clean, and Fairβ principles.
It also aims to support local farmers, fisherfolk, food producers, and communities, aligning with SDGs 2, 4, and 12 on Zero Hunger, Quality Education, and Responsible Consumption and Production.
Through the initiative, JBLCF-B seeks to turn sustainability into meaningful action within and beyond the campus.
