The Global Citizenship Education (GCED) Workshop Caravan 2026 officially opened its first day of activities at the CSM Hall of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University-Molo, Inc. on May 7, gathering educators from various schools and institutions across Iloilo.


The activity aimed to strengthen educators’ understanding of global citizenship education and promote responsible, inclusive, and globally aware teaching practices suited to the needs of today’s learners. Participating institutions included St. Paul University Iloilo, JBLFMU-Arevalo, Iloilo National High School, Iloilo State University of Fisheries, Science and Technology, St. Therese-MTC Colleges, Port San Pedro National High School, Colegio de las Hijas de Jesus, Inc., and JBLFMU-Molo, Inc.
The caravan featured discussions on the Whole-School Approach in GCED led by Dr. Rowena Raton-Hibanada, Director of the Global Citizenship Education Cooperation Centre Philippines at the Philippine Normal University, and Prof. Iona Ofelia Zanoria, Project Manager of several GCED initiatives and Director of the Gender Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Office at the Philippine Normal University.
