JBLFMU-Molo faculty joins UNESCO-APCEIU GCED training workshop in South Korea

Dr. Louise May Lim, International Relations Coordinator of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University-Molo, participated in the five-day training workshop on Global Citizenship Education (GCED) during the 25th Asia-Pacific Training Workshop (APTW) held in Seoul and Gangwon, South Korea from April 27 to May 1.

The workshop gathered alumni and new participants to discuss the role of GCED in promoting peace, coexistence, and intercultural understanding.

Participants reflected on how GCED can address conflict and division by encouraging openness, empathy, and shared responsibility among individuals and communities.

The activity echoed UNESCO’s principle that peace must be built in the minds and hearts of people, emphasizing the importance of education in fostering global awareness and mutual understanding.

Lim was among only two delegates from the Philippines who participated in the workshop. As an alumna of the Asia-Pacific Centre of Education for International Understanding (APCEIU), her participation was once again subsidized by UNESCO-APCEIU, a UNESCO-affiliated institution that promotes Global Citizenship Education and Education for International Understanding across the Asia-Pacific region.

Her participation reinforced JBLFMU-Molo’s continued engagement in international exchange programs and initiatives related to Global Citizenship Education.
