John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Molo), Inc. participated in the National Mass CPR Day held at Central Philippine University on July 17, joining schools and institutions in promoting life-saving skills and emergency preparedness.
The activity, anchored by the Philippine Heart Association in partnership with West Visayas Medical Center and Bell Kenz Sagip CPR, aimed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills needed to respond to cardiac emergencies.
In her welcoming remarks, Dr. Maria Theresa Pili encouraged participants to value every opportunity to save lives, saying, โTogether, letโs build a community where every heartbeat matters and every second counts.โ
The program opened with a Basic Life Support lecture by Dr. Brian Jalbuena, who discussed the importance of performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) in emergencies and demonstrated the proper techniques for responding to cardiac arrest.
Participants also learned the proper use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) through a demonstration by Dr. Eden Rula, who explained how the device evaluates the heartโs rhythm and delivers an electric shock when necessary before continuing CPR.
The activity concluded with a collective pledge from participants to become lifesavers in their respective communities by applying the knowledge and skills gained from the training.
