The administration of JBLFMU-Molo through the leadership of Mr. Robert O. Parcia, Administrator sent the 24 instructors and non-teaching staff to attend the seminar-workshop entitled "Achieving Excellence in Scientific Journal Publishing:
A Seminar-Workshop on Scopus Indexing and Other Indexing Application Processes" at the JBL Hall of JBLFMU-Arevalo, Iloilo City last January 11-12, 2024. The research speaker was Prof. Don Eliseo Lucero-Prisno III.
The program started with prayer, the national anthem, and JBLFMU hymn. Dr. Melchor M. Magramo, Research Director of JBLFMU-Molo welcomed the participants coming from different academic units of the university. Dr. Rolando A. Alimen, Research Coordinator of JBLFMU-Molo introduced the resource speaker. Professor Don Eliseo Lucero-Prisno III leads a global initiative, "Achieving University Excellence through Research", to address global research inequity. The initiative engages in intensive research capacity-building of many universities in Asia and Africa. Don is the Editor-in-Chief of Public Health Challenges (Wiley) and is the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of BMC Global Health Research and Policy.
Don is a global health scientist whose works focus on health equity. His scientific work is hinged on creating evidence to influence global health policy and practice, improve the health of populations, and achieve global health equity. Don teaches Economics of Global Health Policy at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and International Health at the University of the Philippines (Open University).
He was a Visiting Scientist at Harvard Medical School and currently holds Adjunct and Visiting Professorship at Mahidol University, University of Botswana, Cardiff University, Wuhan University, Naresuan University, Astana Medical University, Asfendiyarov Kazakh National Medical University, Universidade da Paz, and Taipei Medical University.
He finished his Ph.D. at Cardiff University, MPH at the Royal Tropical Institute in Amsterdam, MSc in Health Economics Policy and Law in Global Health at Erasmus University in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, and his BSc Psychology (cum laude) and Doctor of Medicine from the University of the Philippines. His global work has been recognized through many awards he has received including The Outstanding Young Man of the Philippines in 2009 from the President of the country. Closing remarks were delivered by Dr. Ma. Elena J. Eleperia, Academic Affairs Director of JBLFMU.
