Currently a BSCSM 4-A student, Fatima serves as the Editor-in-Chief of The Seagull, the official student publication of JBLFMU-Molo. Over the past two years as Editor-in-Chief, she has exemplified exceptional leadership, creativity, and unwavering dedication. Under her stewardship, The Seagull has blossomed into a vibrant platform where students are encouraged to articulate their thoughts and share their stories, fostering an environment rich in critical thinking, creativity, media literacy, and global citizenship.
Her adept ability to lead a diverse team, combined with her astute editorial insight, has transformed the publication into a source of inspiration and empowerment. During her tenure, The Seagull achieved notable acclaim, securing fifth place in the Newsletter category and third place in the Departmental Paper category at the College Press Awards (COPRE) 2024, organized by the Philippine Information Agency (PIA) Region VI. Furthermore, her team's innovative Media and Information Literacy pitch garnered recognition from UNESCO during its Youth Hackathon 2024. As the Literary Editor of The Seagull, she also spearheaded the Mono no aware Literary Folio, which won fourth place in COPRE 2022, marking the first award ever achieved by JBLFMU-Molo's Literary Folio. Fatima's prowess extends to national accolades, having won second place in Feature Writing and third place in Sports Writing at the 2024 Word Cup National Campus Journalism Workshop in Tagaytay City.
In her academic pursuits, Ms. Pumaren consistently achieves outstanding results, a testament to her unwavering commitment to excellence and her fervor for learning. She actively participates in joint advanced English classes with Osaka Seikei University in Japan during the first semester of the academic year 2024-2025, reflecting her dedication to broadening her horizons and embracing diverse perspectives in the pursuit of global education and citizenship.
Beyond her editorial and academic successes, Fatima is deeply devoted to her community and her faith. She engages in a myriad of outreach programs and initiatives designed to uplift and empower those around her.
