On October 20, 2025, a significant milestone in academic collaboration was achieved as the John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Molo), Inc. and Jeju National University formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding at the JBLFMU Mother Foundation Building. This partnership marks a new chapter of cooperation aimed at fostering innovation and research in artificial intelligence, engineering, and environmental technology.

The signing ceremony was graced by distinguished guests from Jeju National University, including Prof. BYUN Yung-Cheol, Director of the RISE Office for High-Intelligent Service, Prof. Kang, Chung-ul, Vice President for Research Affairs, and Prof. Kim Yong-woon, researcher, each bringing their expertise and commitment to this landmark alliance.
Representing JBLFMU-Molo was Engr. Roberto Neal S. Sobrejuanite, University Administrator, who led the signing on behalf of the institution. The agreement establishes a formal inter-university partnership with Jeju National University’s RIS Institute, aiming to deepen joint research efforts and foster cooperation in AI technology development, as well as collaborative projects in engineering, technology, and environmental sustainability.
This promising collaboration was made possible through the dedicated efforts and warm invitation extended by Dr. Rolando Alimen, Coordinator of JBLFMU-Molo’s Research Office, alongside Dr. Ma. Beth Concepcion of WVSU Center for Digital Transformation. Their initiative played a crucial role in bridging the two universities and setting the stage for future groundbreaking endeavors.

The MOU signifies a shared vision between JBLFMU-Molo and Jeju National University to enhance academic excellence, promote technological advancements, and address global challenges through innovative research partnerships. Both institutions are poised to leverage their strengths and resources to create impactful solutions that benefit their communities and the wider world.
As this partnership unfolds, it reflects a powerful commitment to excellence in education and research, inspiring students and faculty alike to reach new heights in the fields of AI, engineering, and environmental sciences.
