Roots to Reefs: Strengthening Sustainability Through Employee Action

Last February 12, 2025, the John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University–Molo Community Extension Services (JBLFMU-Molo CES) successfully organized the Employees’ Immersion at Puerto Del Mar and Igang Bay Marine Sanctuary, Nueva Valencia, Guimaras. The whole-day activity engaged employees in meaningful, hands-on environmental initiatives that deepened awareness and responsibility toward nature. Highlights included an orientation on Puerto Del Mar, mangrove bagging and planting, mangrove and coastal clean-up, and an environmental tour and site familiarization around PDM, highlighting the Igang Bay Marine Sanctuary . Through direct participation, employees gained firsthand experience of ecosystem protection and sustainable coastal management. The initiative aimed to strengthen environmental consciousness, encourage eco-friendly practices, and foster a shared commitment to conservation.
