On November 8, 2024, JBLFMU-Molo's Community Extension Service Office, in partnership with the Human Resource Department, initiated the Employees' Re-Orientation Activity at the CSM Function Hall. This event aimed to empower and inspire our employees, reaffirming the crucial role they play in fostering community impact.

As the backbone of JBLFMU's outreach initiatives, our employees are essential in driving meaningful programs and services for our partner communities. Through their efforts, JBLFMU continues to stand strong in its mission of impactful community engagement.

The session featured Ms. Mary Mar E. Jaleco, CES Coordinator, and Ms. Krizna Joy C. Belencion, Molo CES Officer, who offered powerful insights on the spirit of volunteerism. Their inspiring messages encouraged all participants to deepen their commitment to service, enhancing JBLFMU’s shared vision of community involvement and transformation.

The visit is part of PSU’s research project titled “Analyzing the Landscape of Salt Research and Development in the Philippines: Identification of Gaps, Opportunities, and Strategic Recommendations.”

The PSU team aims to explore solar-dried and cooked salt production methods to enhance understanding and documentation of these traditional practices.

Moreover, they will also collaborate with JBLFMU faculty and researchers to identify challenges and research gaps in the local salt industry.

Both teams showed a thrilling display of athleticism, skill, and teamwork.

Engr. Roberto Neal Sobrejuanite, the university’s administrator, officially opened MOW 2024.

“Mission Objective Week 2024 is a celebration of sportsmanship, unity, and teamwork,” he emphasized.

Moreover, the event featured talented and passionate students from different departments in the Mr. and Ms. JBLFMU-Molo 2024 competition, which will be held on November 22, Friday, at the university gymnasium.

Each department presented their own colorful and creative performances: EuroAsia from the Basic Education and Technical Vocational Department, Africa and Pacific from the College of Maritime Education, and the Americas from the College of Business and Management.

JBLFMU's CEO, Dr. Ronald Raymond L. Sebastian, and JBLFMU-Molo's Administrator, Engr. Roberto Neal S. Sobrejuanite received the certificate during the awarding ceremony at the Philippine International Convention Center on November 24, 2024.

The recognition serves as a badge of honor for JBLFMU-Molo and reinforces its reputation as a leading maritime education provider. With this autonomous status, the Institution is poised to continue its mission of nurturing well-rounded maritime professionals dedicated to contributing to the global maritime industry. The autonomous status is a significant milestone for the institution, emphasizing the dedication of its faculty and staff to fostering an environment of excellence in maritime education.

In a groundbreaking initiative, JBLFMU-Molo, Inc. and Osaka Seikei University (OSU) came together for their inaugural Virtual Joint Advanced English Class today. Spearheaded by Dr. Joseph Ring, Deputy Director of the English Education Center at OSU, and Dr. Louise May Lim, International Relations Coordinator at JBLFMU-Molo, Inc. this collaborative effort aimed to enhance global education through a dynamic Project-Based Learning Engagement lasting 100 minutes.

The session kicked off with an engaging Virtual Passport Activity, designed to foster connections, celebrate cultural diversity, and cultivate a friendly online atmosphere for respectful dialogue. Participants utilized English to share and appreciate each other's unique cultures. During the activity, each participant had up to three minutes to introduce themselves, discuss their hometown, highlight their community roles, showcase unique cultural features, and share their travel aspirations.

The event saw enthusiastic participation with eight delegates from OSU and 14 students from JBLFMU-Molo, Inc. representing the various academic programs, along with Mr. Bernie Jiao, BSTM Faculty, and the standout contribution from 3/E Allan Robert, who impressed everyone with his ease of conversation in Nihongo.

As the joint class concluded, participants eagerly presented topics of interest for future sessions, setting the stage for continued collaboration and learning between the two universities.

Themed "Take the Rights Path," the event was hosted by Team Dugong Bughaw, and featured an array of meaningful and exciting activities, successfully highlighting the importance of knowledge and advocacy in fighting the stigma and misinformation surrounding HIV.

The day kicked off with an informative panel discussion led by HIV youth advocates, and in a heartfelt segment, community partners expressed their support and solidarity, while letters from people living with HIV (PLHIV) were read aloud.

Furthermore, the event was spearheaded by TDB organizations in various universities in Iloilo, and was possible with the collaboration of partner organizations, such as the CPU Communication Circle, WVSU - University Students' Alliance, and Ugyon Youth, among others.

JBLFMU (Molo)'s participation in this cause is a call for action, encouraging everyone to fight against the stigma and spread awareness.

Through this initiative, SNPI aims to provide aspiring seafarers with comprehensive training and development programs to equip them with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel in the maritime industry. The company is dedicated to fostering a culture of safety, professionalism, and excellence among its crew members.

The event featured Chief Engineer Vladimer B. Palomo, a Certified Life Coach (CLC) with background in ship management duties in OSM THOME Singapore, as the guest speaker.

C/E Palomo delivered an insightful talk titled “Safety Moment: Mental Health for Seafarers,” emphasizing the crucial link between mental well-being and safety in the maritime profession.

Drawing from his extensive experience as a management-level seafarer, C/E Palomo highlighted how unaddressed mental health issues could lead to safety risks and accidents aboard vessels. He shared real-life cases to illustrate the importance of mental health awareness and its impact on work performance and safety.

“You cannot work if your mind is not okay,” he stated, underscoring the need to prioritize mental health as equally vital as physical health in ensuring safety and efficiency at sea.

The event served as a valuable platform for cadets to gain knowledge on safety practices and the significance of mental health in the demanding maritime industry.
