A Memorandum of Agreement for the Maritime Education Scholarship Program between the Provincial Government of Negros Occidental, John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation, Inc. Bacolod and the sponsor shipping companies: Fukujin Kisen Co., Ltd, and MISUGA Ship Management was penned last September 06, 2023 at JBLCF- Bacolod HMA Function Hall.
Present during the MOA signing for the tripartite agreement were Negros Occidental Governor Hon. Eugenio Jose Lacson, JBLCF-Bacolod Administrator Engr. Roberto Neal Sobrejuanite, C/E Ritzi Don Sanchez, Deputy General Manager of Fukujin Kisen Co., Ltd, Keita Okajima, and C/E Arnel Gonzales, President and General Manager, respectively of Misuga Management Services, 27 JBLCF-B grantees and their parents.
The Provincial Government shall pay for the tuition and school fees of the BS Marine Transportation and BS Marine Engineering scholars while the manning companies are to ensure their employment after one year of shipboard training. This is under the “Study Now, Pay Later” scheme.
In his speech, Gov. Lacson challenged the scholars to take full advantage of this chance to learn and grow, to be responsible students and to help and inspire other young Negrenses.
