John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (JBLFMU) students showed what Lacsonian service looks like after they assisted the Dinagyang Festival operations to ensure the attendees' safety and security last January 23 to 25.
The institution's two units, Arevalo and Molo, collaborated to deploy a total of 165 students in accordance to the Iloilo Festivals Foundation Inc.'s request, with the male students helping the security and stage monitoring, and the female students accommodated guest relations, ushered, and information assistance.
Moreover, these students worked under the supervision of trained personnel and were assigned in three specific judging areas: Freedom Grandstand, La Paz, and Iloilo Sports Complex.
Meanwhile, 104 students from the Bachelor of Science in Criminology of JBLFMU-Arevalo were requested by the Iloilo City Police Office to station in the Freedom Grandstand. They were assigned to monitor security, check tickets, crowd control, and stage arrangement.
This way of support became an avenue to showcase Lacsonian discipline, leadership, and service, elevating the Dinagyang Festival experience for the tourists and the Ilonggos.
This partnership aligns with the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs): Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 13, Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).
