Turkish Film Maker Mr. Kรถken Ergun, Indonesian Lecturer Ni Kadek Bumi Krismentari, S.Kom., M.T, and JA alum and marine superintendent Capt. Date Dalipe sat down with the students in the university library to discuss responsible social media use yesterday, January 28.
The seminar-forum, โME in MEdia: Discussion on Responsible Social Media Use on Global Perspectiveโ aimed to educate Lacsonians on how to properly and professionally use social media outlets.
Ms. Ni Kadek Bumi Krismentari. S. Kom., M.T of the Institut Bisnis dan Teknologi Indonesia (INSTIKI) started the discussion via Zoom, imparting her knowledge and expertise on responsible sharing online.
Afterwards, Mr. Ergun shared his process about creating honest media. He pointed out the consequences of relying too much on technological advancement, such as AI and social media platforms.
Following Mr. Ergun, Capt. Dalipe shared his knowledge as a seafarer and social media content creator. He discussed the common shipping company social media policies, as well as cautionary tales of the effects of social media on board.
He deeply emphasized that improper usage of social media can greatly affect the working performance of seafarers, which greatly derailed them from achieving their goals.
This seminar-forum was facilitated by the Unit Internationalization Relations Office in partnership with Readers' Partner Organization, The Dolphin, and Navigator's Society of Antique, and aligns with the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG): Quality Education (SDG 4), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 9), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).
