Prominent leaders from the education sector, maritime institutions, and festival organizations gathered at the JBL Hall of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo) Inc. for the the Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signing in support of the initiatives connected to the 53rd Iloilo Paraw Regatta Festival last Monday, February 23.
Leading the ceremony were Mr. Rito Carlos "Judgee" Peรฑa, chairman of the Iloilo Festivals Foundation Inc., Dr. Ronald Raymond Sebastian, Chief Executive Officer of this university, together with Mr. John Lex L. Bayombong, chairman of the Iloilo Paraw Regatta Festival 2026.
In addition, the unit also hosted the first day of the sailing seminar-workshop as part of the festival, with Dr. Roberto R. Somosa at the helm. Sailing terms, angles and points of sailing were discussed, along with a presentation and familiarization of the Paraw Regatta race course.
The second and third following days shifted to hands-on training at Tatoyโs Manokan Beach Front, where participants of the event engaged in practical sailing workshops together with experts, including Dr. Marlon Teruรฑez and seasoned sailing mentors.
ย These events align with the university's commitment to the following United Nations Sustainable Development Agenda (UNSDG's): Quality Education (SDG 4), Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).
