The graduating class of Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) and Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BSCrim) students of this university filled the JBL Hall as they participated in the required Pre-employment Program on Wednesday, March 19.
Anchored on the theme, โCharting the Course: Preparing Future Seafarers for Shipboard Success and Law Enforcement Readiness for Future Criminologists,โ the program gathered 17 sections and featured seven speakers who provided practical insights and personal guidance to help students transition into their respective professions.
Topics of the morning session included "Financial LiteracyโGovernment-Mandated Benefits (PAG-IBIG Fund)," "From Preparation to Performance: PDOS," "Embarkation Essentials: Preparing for a Smooth Journey," "Sailing with Integrity: Conduct That Inspires (Proper Behaviour of a Cadet On-Board)" and "Gender Issues On-Board Ships: Promoting Respect for Female Seafarers," reinforcing studentsโ readiness, inclusivity, and professional awareness.
Meanwhile, the afternoon session saw through "Alternative Careers for Seafarers" for the BSMT students and "Professional Readiness for Law Enforcement and Security Careers" was talked over for the Criminology students.
The event aligns with the universityโs commitment to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly UNSDG 4 (Quality Education) and UNSDG 5 (Gender Equality).
