SEC JOINS CITY GOVT’S MANGROVE PLANTING ACTIVITY

The Student Executive Council of JBLFMU-Arevalo, Inc. participated in the greening activity by planting 400 mangrove sampling in the coastal area of Brgy. Hinactacan, La Paz, Iloilo City this early morning, July 29.

The said activity was spearheaded by the Iloilo City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (CDRRMC) to celebrate the National Resilience Month.

“We feel accomplished and happy that we contribute to help our environment. Knowing that it is our first partnership with the City Government, we're hoping to have more activities and participation together with the faculty and students this school year,” said Marc Gerard L. Camba, SEC President.

The City Environment and Natural Resources Office, City Population Office, City Agriculturist's Office, City Engineer's Office, City Disaster and Risk Reduction Management Office, Public Information Office, and Brgy. Hinactacan's DOLE TUPAD beneficiaries also joined the activity.

The restoration of mangrove is beneficial to the coastal communities since it stabilizes the coastal ecosystem, prevents shoreline erosion and mitigates storm surge impacts during extreme weathers.
