The World Food Day 2023 was marked by an educational initiative organized by the Community Extension Services Society of this university.

Under the theme "Water is Life, Water is Food. Leave No One Behind," this event, hosted at the Sto. Niño Sur Barangay Hall, brought 44 children aged 4-12 years old together with CESS volunteers to impart knowledge and foster environmental consciousness, October 15.

Aimed at raising awareness about the vital role of water management in adapting to climate changes and to underscore the significance of preserving water resources for a sustainable future, this half-day program featured video presentations, interactive games, a nourishing feeding program, and engaging group discussions.

Following these discussions, an art activity was introduced, enabling the children to translate their newfound knowledge and insights into creative expressions. This outlet allowed them to visually convey their understanding of the learnings they had explored.

The CES Society extended their heartfelt appreciation to their major sponsors, recognizing their invaluable role in making this educational initiative a reality.

The team also commended Hon. Cezar Espinosa, the Barangay Captain, and the dedicated Barangay Health Workers (BHW) team, led by Ma’am Janit Taso, for their support during the event's planning and execution.

"As CESS volunteers, we are here to fulfill one of our school's 10-point agenda, which is social responsibility. This is just one of a million steps on our journey towards our main purpose: empowering Lacsonians and community members, promoting collective growth, and enhancing community safety and strength," 2/M Alexander Tabao, CESS adviser, remarked.
