By: Mdpn. Francis Baldemor

The university's dedication to the highest standards of maritime education is celebrated through the recognition of two outstanding educators: Engineer Roderick R. Germo, Ph.D. and Dr. Mary Jean L. De La Cruz, as they earned honors as among the Ten Outstanding Maritime Employees (TOME) of 2023.

The Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA) Regional Office VI gave the recognition to both the faculty members of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc. in line with the celebration of National Maritime Week.

This recognition follows in the footsteps of C/M Virmari S. Tan, Ph.D., Dean of Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation (BSMT) at JBLFMU-Arevalo, who received the TOME award in 2022.

Notably, JBLFMU-Arevalo has a proud history of administrative staff earning this distinguished award, with Dr. Brian Gil S. Sarinas, Dr. Geneva M. Eler, and Dr. Shirley G. Hampac among the university's previous recipients.

The award ceremony took place at the university's JBL Hall on September 29, where Engr. Germo and Dr. De La Cruz are officially recognized for their outstanding contributions to the maritime industry and education.
