John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University ranked 59th as the best university in the Philippines and third in Western Visayas by EduRank, an independent metric-based ranking website, as of February 2024.

The university's latest national ranking climbed 12 spots from its previous position at 71st, elevating it from fourth to third place as the best university in WV last year.

According to EduRank, the rankings are based on research outputs, non-academic prominence, and alumni influence.

They analyzed 500,000 citations from 58,800 academic publications across 229 universities in the Philippines, as well as the popularity of 1,093 recognized alumni.

Moreover, JBLFMU contributed significantly to this ranking with 53 scientific papers published and 23 citations received.

Edurank emphasized that the sole criterion for inclusion in the rankings is the issuance of bachelor's degrees and above or analogous programs with more than four years of study.
