JBLFMU Arevalo, Inc. WINS BIG AT TOSIA 2024 3RD-YEAR CADET NAMED AMONG ‘CIRCLE OF 5’

Three cadets from John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc. (JBLFMU-A) were honored as finalists in The Outstanding Students of Iloilo Awards (TOSIA) 2024, with one clinching a major award. The "Salute to Excellence" ceremony took place at Robinson's Pavia on June 22.

Mdpn. John Mhar T. Titular earned a place in the coveted "Circle of Five" and ranked among the top three in the Best Advocacy Video category. Mdpn. Roque Robe-C Felix C. Armada IV also received an award for Best Advocacy Video, while Mdpn. Angelo Mari A. Gonzales was named a finalist.

TOSIA recognizes students who exemplify the four pillars of the award: academics, leadership, community service, and faith.

Mdpn. Titular is passionate about environmental protection. His "Project Kawsa" aims to localize climate change responses and promote self-sustaining communities through its 4Ks strategies: Kumbinse (Convince), Kumatha (Cultivate), Kumonekta (Connect), and Kumilos (Act).

"A few may know, but when I was in Junior High School, I was also a hopeful aspirant who got into the semi-finalist stage of the 10th Search for TOSIA. Despite my best efforts, I struggled with confidence that seemed to come easily to my peers," Mdpn. Titular stated in his acceptance speech.

"With the undying support of my family and the encouragement of a few dedicated people who saw potential in me, I resolved to turn my fortunes around," he added.

The selection process for TOSIA awardees included an evaluation of portfolios, bid book screenings, and panel interviews.

The 2024 TOSIA was organized by Junior Chamber International (JCI) Regatta, in collaboration with the Department of Education and the Commission on Higher Education.
