Determined to bridge the gap of learning in the maritime sector, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc. received recognition this September, with two manuscripts published in TransNav, the International Journal on Marine Navigation and Safety of Sea Transportation.
Authored by Engr. Roderick R. Germo, Ph.D., C/M Virmari S. Tan, Ph.D., and 3/M Angelo Casañare, the first paper explores the "Effectiveness of Problem-based Learning (PBL) on Maritime Professional Courses in a Blended Learning Modality."
Last year, the research regarding PBL took home the 2nd place for Best Poster during the 31st Annual Conference of the Philippine Society for Educational Research and Evaluation (PSERE).
“My hard work really paid off, and I couldn’t achieve this without the help of my fellow researchers,” Engr. Germo stated.
In addition, the research study entitled "Development of a Supplemental Learning Material in Mathematics for Seamanship (Trim and Stability)" was also accepted in the said publication.
Mrs. Clarence Kay S. Gabasa and C/M Teodosio S. Melliza co-authored the manuscript, which also won Best Research Paper in Instabright International Research Conference and Presentation held in Tagaytay.
These research studies are products of "Due-to-Write Research," a structured initiative of the university that engages faculty in producing high-quality maritime research within a set timeline through mentorship, resources, and collaborative efforts.
TransNav shares expertise and research in navigation and sea transportation. It is indexed in Elsevier SCOPUS and Clarivate Analytics, which are prominent databases for academic journals that enhance visibility and credibility.
