John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc. faculty's maritime-based research won Best Paper in Annual Noste Confab

With its continuous dominance and excellence in research, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc. faculty bagged the second and third Best Paper award in the 2024 National Organization of Science Teachers and Educators, Inc. (NOSTE) International Research Conference and Training Workshop, September 20-22.

2/M Jester B. De la Cruz secured the second Best Paper award with his research entitled, "The Extent on Application of Hard and Soft Skills Onboard Ship: Basis for Developing of Program to Enhance Seafarers' Skills," under the Cluster 11: Technology-Enhanced and Innovative Teaching Strategies, which he co-authored with Capt. Nestor Baluya and Capt. Kester Ledesma.

Meanwhile, 2/M Aldin L. Turija, MSMM, grabbed the third Best Paper award with his research entitled, "A Documentary Review of the Oil Spill Responses in Iloilo, Philippines after the MT Solar 1 Incident," under Cluster 1: Educational Research and Innovations.

With a theme, "Inclusive Science Education Promoting Positive Learning Space and Well-being," the two-day hybrid conference featured parallel and plenary speakers as well as paper presenters from different universities across the world.

NOSTE is a professional teacher organization that caters to science teachers in all levels, science educators, science enthusiasts and scientist.

This feat signifies that maritime universities can also excel not just in maritime research but also in science and math research.

The program was held in its home office, West Visayas State University, Lapaz, Iloilo City from September 20-22.
