โInnovationโ took center stage at the John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (JBLFMU) annual research colloquium during the 77th Foundation Week anniversary celebration, yesterday.
Spearheaded by Engr. Roderick R. Germo, Ph.D., Unit Research Coordinator, JBLFMU (Arevalo), Inc. successfully convened the event entitled โResearch Colloquium, Sharing of Best Practices, and Innovation Exhibits 2025.โ
After the safety protocol instruction and words of welcome from JBLFMU (Arevalo), Inc. heads, gracing the event was the presence of Dr. Ronald Raymond L. Sebastian, Chief Executive Officer of JBLFMU, who delivered a message to the faculty, staff, and students at the said event.
This yearโs keynote speaker was introduced to be Engr. Bert S. Bayona, Nuclear Power Designer and Engineering Expert, who spoke about nuclear power as one of the safest and most reliable energy sources due to its ability to generate power on command.
More importantly, in his speech, Engr. Bayona also stressed the importance of education, describing it as the best innovation for the future.
โI think the best innovation for tomorrow is education,โ he emphasized.
The first part of the colloquium was the presentation of research papers by C/E Roger John J. Natial, Graduate School, JBLFMU (Arevalo), Inc.; 3/E Bernard Sorbito, Jr., OIC-Quality Assurance Manager, JBLCF (Bacolod), Inc.; and Dr. Ronald Baynosa, Faculty, College of Business & Management, JBLFMU (Molo), Inc., which were then assessed and evaluated by distinguished reactors from outside universities.
Afterwards, all three units of JBLFMU shared their best practices and innovations in topics such as coffee, practices in disaster risk reduction, online document requests, Marine-ICT-Electro-Automation Advance Trainer, providing technical and vocational education and training, and even in the registration department.
The last part of the program was the cutting of the ribbon and opening of the innovation exhibit, which showcased multiple innovations each unit of JBLFMU developed over the years.
The participants of the research colloquium were JBLF Inc.; JBLFMU Executive Committee; JBLCF (Bacolod), Inc.; JBLFMU (Molo), Inc.; and JBLFMU (Arevalo), Inc.
