Third-year Bachelor of Science in Marine Transportation students and fourth-year graduating students of Bachelor of Science in Criminology took part in the 2025 Pre-Employment Program for Future Seafarers last March 27 at the JBL Hall.

The event featured seven speakers for the morning and afternoon sessions, catering a total of 17 sections, including the BSCrim.

In the morning talk, the speakers were Mrs. Gloria P. Legarde, representative of MARINA Regional Office VI; 2/M Loren Steve G. Glumalid, MSMM, BSMT faculty and Adviser of The Dolphin; Capt. Clint Clark J. Banes, Batch 2010-2011 alumnus; 3/M Mikkel Arengo, officer at Maersk; and D/C Kezia Camille Tenefrancia, Stena Northern Marine Management cadet.

They tackled the importance of MARINA to would-be-seafarers and its services, dress etiquette for seafarers and preparing for an interview from the seafarers' perspective, financial literacy for professionals in the seafaring industry, and proper behavior and discipline of new cadets on-board, respectively.

While in the afternoon discussion, the array of speakers include Capt. Julyvenย  C. Juanica, BSMT faculty and JBLFMU-A alumnus; D/C Loween John H. Seloterio, PACC PCL Cadet and former Associate Editor of The Dolphin from 2018 to 2021; and PMSg. Jonathan T. Jamolo, Ph.D., Criminal Justice Department faculty.

They talked about career alternatives for BSMT graduates aside from seafaring, proper behavior and discipline of new cadets on-board, and career paths in law enforcement and other opportunities aside from the seafaring industry, respectively.

Headed by the Student Affairs and Services Department, the event also aims to emphasize the institution's core values: perseverance, excellence, discipline, and integrity.
