Keeping discipline in times of calamities, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc. (JBLFMU-A) executed the First Quarter (Q1) Nationwide Simultaneous Earthquake Drill (NSED) on March 13.
Facilitated by the universityโs Disaster Risk Reduction Unit adviser 2/M Karl Danielle H. Sira, MSMM, CCSSM, and Safety Officer alongside 2/M Abcede A. Bangalisan, Head of Discipline, the university joins in exercising disaster preparedness in times of evacuation and simulated seismic events.
Students, faculty, and staff then enacted the duck, cover, and hold at 1500Hโutilizing the covered gymnasium and the university field as the muster station.
Disaster risk reduction officers with the safety unit brigade were on alert to simulate their duties while on standby for real response among students who might be affected by the afternoon heat.
Notably, NSED is conducted to enhance earthquake preparations and response among individuals, schools, and communities for public awareness and reduction of casualty in times of calamities.
