Polaris Class Organization (PCO) of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc. held its Stellar Induction 2025 to greet new and regular members of the organization at the JBL Hall, July 29.
Eight official Polaris sections grazed the morning event with a theme: "Lead. Inspire. Welcome. A Commitment to Growth and Service".ย
The aim of the event was for students from Polaris 3A, 3B, 2A, 2B, PBMS A, PBMS B, STEM, and GHA to learn about the history of the organization, learn proper courtesy, and listen to expectations of fellow students.
Captain Nestor L. Baluya, MSMM, Dean of the Maritime Program, opened the event by welcoming the students and challenging them to strive for professional growth.
"The journey will not always be easy, but with passion, perseverance, and a mindset of service, you will discover your true strengths," the dean said, as Mr. Robert O. Parcia, MSMM, administrator, followed with his own opening speech.
Two hours of the event was spent on the message of the founding adviser of PCO, Mr. Bernabe A. Basbas, MAEd. RGC., giving hints and a brief recap of how the organization came to its name and reputation today.
In between talks of the speakers, a roulette of approximately 320 students brought attention to lucky students who won prizes of ballpens, and the new implementation of the organizationโwhite pershing cap liningโexclusive for Polaris students and will be effective during and after the pinning ceremony for second and third year students.
To close, 2/O Jerard Madrillo, adviser of the PCO, gave his last reminders to students of what they are expected as role modelsโshined paraphernalias, clean and well-ironed summer white uniforms, and pershing caps worn every class day except Wednesday.
