Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT U) invited John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (JBLFMU) to participate in its 120th Founding Anniversary through their hosted event, ISAT U Legacy Run 120.
It took place last September 13 with the starting point at the First View Deck of Sunset Boulevard for the one kilometer (km) walk-a-thon, three km, five km, and 10 km run.
Runners were openly welcomed by the organizers and the university president of ISAT U, Dr. Gabriel M. Salistre Jr., PEE, DIT, SUC President III.
The legacy run according to the statement of the president from his invitation letter, was about "commitment to innovation, service, and excellence through the decades...which brings together alumni, students, parents, partners, and the broader Iloilo Community in a celebration of legacy and unity."
In an interview with The Dolphin, the president gave gratitude for JBLFMU-Arevalo's participation and looked forward to more endeavors between the two universities.
"Nagapasalamat kami for John B. Arevalo for participating in this activity. The existence of the university is not limited to our strength but the strength of other stakeholders. We are looking forward nga hindi lamang kita mag end in this activity but somehow in the continuous collaborations with other endeavors," he said.
Members of the One Run, Community of Arevalo (ORCA) participated in the said running event together with ISAT U alumni, staff, students, and runners within Iloilo City.
Participation in this event aligns with the university's cooperation with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), namely: SDG 3, Good Health and Well-Being; SDG 4, Quality Education; SDG 11, Sustainable Cities and Communities; SDG 17, Partnerships for the Goals.
