Mr. Francis Dave Lacson Selorio, a Chef at Francesco's and Cafe Mabini in San Juan Metro, Manila, brought another achievement after securing the first prize in the first-ever Doreen Gamboa Fernandez (DGF) Short Food Video Award last September 14.
His entry, "The Pusรด Youโve Never Heard Of," was created last July 26, 2025. It tells the story about the history and differences between the pusรด of Cebu and Panay to shed light on why context matters.
"It all started with a post: a simple photo of a local delicacy, and suddenly, the internet exploded. Cebuanos were up in arms, claiming this wasn't 'their' puso," Mr. Selorio explained.
Looking back, he won second prize last year during the 21st DGF Food Writing Award, which featured his dish "Linagpang: A Grilled Soup" and his essay "Long Live Sinalay".
The first DGF Short Food Video Award, with a theme "Minatamis", allows creators to capture the essence of Filipino cuisine through short films, may it be a recipe, documentary on local cooks and traditions, or a personal story of food and culture.
Mr. Selerio has 10 years of experience in the food industry and is an alumnus of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo) Inc. He also served as The Dolphin's Associate Editor and was an Icon Awardee during the 75th Foundation Anniversary celebration.
