In its ongoing commitment to quality education and fostering stronger collaboration, John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc. held its first Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting for the academic year 2025–2026 last Saturday, September 13.

More than 400 parents and guardians attended, engaged in discussions on student welfare, academics, and campus programs.

The assembly was given a warm welcome from PTA President Mr. June Raymund Peter Flores, and the administrator, Mr. Robert O. Parcia.

Dr. Ma. Lona T. Torrigue then presented the financial report, and Mr. Flores highlighted recent accomplishments, including additional coolers, planned LED walls, and other facility upgrades. Along these discussions, Mr. Parcia provided clarifications and assurances regarding fund allocation for the projects.

Capt. Nestor L. Baluya, MSMM, College of Maritime Education Dean, and Dr. Jonas A. Gonzales, PhDCJ, College of Criminal Justice Dean, later introduced the faculty for the BSMT and BSCrim, respectively.

The open forum tackled queries on academics, discipline, campus policies, and scholarships. These were all addressed by Mr. Parcia, Capt. Baluya, Mr. Flores, and Mrs. Rohena Z. Miranda, MAEd, RGC, giving parents the opportunity to raise concerns and receive clarifications directly from university heads.

The program concluded with raffle draws and the election of new PTA officers.

This initiative aligns with the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDGs): Quality Education (SDG 4), Decent Work and Economic Growth (SDG 13, Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions (SDG 16), and Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17).
