Students from John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime (University), Arevalo, Inc. showcased their excellence at the 2025 Regional Community-Based Monitoring System (CBMS) Convention and Data Festival organized by the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) Regional Statistical Services Office VI, held on September 23-24 at the Grand Xing Imperial Hotel, Iloilo City.
In the StatShots contest, Mdpn. Lee Harvey Gumban secured first place, while Mdpn. Russel James Amatorio earned third. Also, making it to the Top 10 were Mdpn. James Emmanuel Gabayeron and Mdpn. Kiann Marteen Baldo with Dr. Roderick R. Germo as coach.
Meanwhile, JBLFMU-A also excelled in the Student Research Paper Session. First place was awarded to โThe Impact of Port Development on Coastal Communities Livelihood, Environment, and Health,โ presented by Mdpn. Mark Jason Ablanzar and team members: Mdpwn. Ella Mae Mabulac, Mdpwn. Bea Katrina Fernandez, Mdpn. Kenth Alan Jamili, Mdpn. Wyndale Klein Sumagaysay, Mdpn. Louiejun Carman, Mdpn. Romar Angelo Minerva, and Mdpn. John Andrew Magan, with Dr. Germo as adviser.
Second place went to โTalisay Tree (Terminalia catappa L.) Bark Powder as Algae (Chlorella vulgaris B.) Inhibitor in Water Enclosures,โ presented by Mdpn. Kyle Martin D. Biluan and team composed of Mdpn. Jemar Louise Agabe, Mdpn. Jair Broce, Mdpn. John Kenneth Gonzales, Mdpn. Brent Anjo Punsaran, Mdpn. Olsen Gumia, Mdpn. Vince Peter Magbanua, and Mdpn. Josh Karl Ticar, with Dr. Brian Gil S. Sarinas as Adviser.
