In commemoration of the 53rd anniversary of the declaration of martial law in the country today, September 21, thousands of students, private individuals, and members of various sectors gathered in the streets of Iloilo to call out in one voice and take a stand against corruption.
Kahublagan Kontra Korapsyon (KKK), the church, and multi-sectoral organizations led the rally from Jaro Plaza, while many students and activists led the march from the University of the Philippines Iloilo City campus, all finally converging at the Iloilo Provincial Capitol.
During the rally, protesters bravely expressed their dismay towards the government, crying for justice and condemning corruption.
They made themselves heard, voicing out their concerns for the rising inflation rate, lack of support for education, poverty, and the recent unveiling of ghost projects.
Towards the end of the day, the rally concluded peacefully, with no recorded chaos or injury.
