The research coordinators, faculty, and staff of the three academic units of JBLFMU gathered at the CSM Function Hall of JBLFMU-Molo to participate in the annual 78th Founding Anniversary Research Colloquium and Sharing of Best Practices, yesterday, February 5.
With the theme: "Navigating the Future: JBLFMU's Legacy of Innovation and Excellence in Maritime Education", the program saw through various paper presentations and best practices from across the academic units.
In her keynote speech, "Research for Sustainability, Equity, and Innovation", Ms. Danebeth Glomo-Narzoles, the Chief Education Program Specialist of the Commission on Education Region VI emphasized the importance of having a companion, because we alone cannot master everything so collaboration in research is the key.
"No one is an island!, we are your partners, we are here to help" she emphasized.
Following the keynote speech was a presentation of research papers from Mrs. Irene C Mamon of JBLCF-Bacolod, 2/M Frank Adrian C. Lavega of JBLFMU-Arevalo and Mr. Rudy L. Fojas Jr., JBLFMU-Molo. These were then critiqued Β by Dr. Leo Andrew B. Biclar of Capiz State University, Dr. Nonie C. Maravillas of the University of Antique, and Dr. Ma. Cecilia D. Alimen of the University of San Agustin. An open forum concluded the first part of the program.
The second part was a continuation of the innovation exhibition showcased at the recruitment rooms of the said campus.
The third part of the program saw through the sharing of best practices across the academic units, with Mrs. Michelle Jean C. Villanueva, 2/M Mario B. Dumaicos, and Mr. Florence T. Redosendo, presenting. Capt. Luis G. Evidente, member of the Board of Trustees and Consultant for External Affairs, provided a critique of the presentations, and was then concluded with an open forum.
This event aligns with the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals)
