The Mission to Seafarers conducted a safety and suicide awareness seminar on April 16, with third-year students gathering at the JBL Hall.

Mr. Alfred Ven Garferio, Family Support Network Program Coordinator of the Mission to Seafarers, hosted the event and served as the speaker as well for the group discussion.

The seminar is an initiative aimed at preparing students to foster resilience, attention to well-being, and recognizing the warning sides of suicide, an issue prevalent among professionals who spend periods away from families.

Activities involved accomplishing a safeTALK resource book, which contained suicide prevention awareness and tips students can learn from such as the talk, listen, learn and keep safe method.

The event is aimed at promoting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDG), particularly SDG 3 (Good Health and Well-being), SDG 4 (Quality Education), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
