The Mission to Seafarers (MTS) Philippines, in partnership with John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo) Inc., gathered volunteers once more for a meaningful weekend at the JBL Hall this afternoon, May 16.
The morning activity included a SafeTalk training with select volunteers, in order to establish better suicide awareness among students, colleagues, family and friends. The afternoon activity introduced the Family Support Network (FSN) Iloilo Lighthouse, composed of a new group of volunteers.
The Mission to Seafarers Philippinesโ FSN Program Coordinator Mr. Alfred Ven Garferio also reintroduced the nonprofitโs vital welfare services, including free moral, medical, and legal advice, free transportation, and specialized mental health and rights awareness programs.
As a community-based global ministry, the Mission to Seafarers works to protect the well-being of seafarers and their families.
This partnership supports United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 3 (Good Health and Well-being) and 17 (Partnerships for the Goals).
