The sound of cheers echoed across the court as John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (JBLFMU) Arevalo welcomed home its distinguished alumni for a Friendly Match Game, transforming an afternoon of basketball into a celebration of camaraderie, shared memories, and lasting connections.
Participating in the event were Capt. Don Paul Denate (Class of 1998), Capt. Laurence Riomalos (2001), Capt. Holstien Babiera (2002), Capt. Jun Sillorar (2002), Capt. Raynald Ardiente (2003), Capt. Andrew Cesar Zamora (2006), C/E Kyle Lester Silva (2009), Capt. Jovie CJ Busto (2009), Capt. Ted Jallorina (2010), Capt. Karlo Tumaliuan (2010), Capt. Lawrence Fernandez (2010), and Capt. Roy Morales (2016), all of whom returned to their alma mater to reconnect with fellow graduates, faculty, and students.
While the game showcased friendly competition, it also became an opportunity for alumni to share stories of their professional journeys in the maritime industry. Their return to campus served as a reminder that every successful career begins with the lessons, discipline, and experiences gained inside the university.
Students witnessed not only a basketball match but also the living testament of what perseverance and dedication can achieve. Seeing accomplished captains and chief engineers walk the same halls where they once studied inspired many aspiring maritime professionals to pursue their own dreams with confidence.
More than a sporting event, the Friendly Match Game strengthened the bond between JBLFMU Arevalo and its alumni, reaffirming the University's commitment to nurturing relationships that extend far beyond graduation. As graduates continue to make their mark across the global maritime industry, they remain an enduring source of pride and inspiration for the entire JBLFMU community.
