John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (JBLFMU) Arevalo and Philippine Transmarine Carriers, Inc. (PTCI) reaffirmed their long-standing partnership through the continued implementation of the Sea Mariners Program, an initiative dedicated to inspiring and preparing the next generation of Filipino maritime professionals.
As part of the program, students participated in the session, "Inspiring the Youth Toward Maritime Careers," where maritime industry professionals shared valuable insights on career opportunities at sea, life onboard, and the skills and mindset needed to succeed in the global maritime industry. The discussion encouraged students to pursue careers with purpose while highlighting the vital role of Filipino seafarers in international shipping.
To complement the learning experience, the university's Disaster Risk Reduction Unit (DRRU) facilitated the interactive "Master of the Disaster" activity, which challenged participants through teamwork and problem-solving exercises focused on disaster preparedness and emergency response. The activity reinforced the importance of resilience, quick decision-making, and collaboration, qualities essential to future maritime professionals.
The continuing partnership between JBLFMU Arevalo and PTCI reflects their shared commitment to providing meaningful learning opportunities that develop competent, resilient, and globally competitive seafarers. Through initiatives such as the Sea Mariners Program, both institutions continue to empower students with the knowledge, values, and experiences needed to navigate successful careers in the maritime industry.
