Japanese domestic companies and delegates visited John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo) Inc., (JBLFMU-A) to conduct an Academic Exchange and Research Forum yesterday, August 24.
The primary purpose of the visit was for knowledge and information discussion regarding the current situation of Japanese domestic shipping as there is a shortage of supply but increasing demand among Japanese seafarersย
This industrial concern was explained by Prof. Yasuhito Tanaka of the Osaka University of Commerce, Prof. Takuyaki Mori of the University of Marketing & Distribution Sciences, and Associate Prof. Kazuhiko Ishiguro in their respective presentations.
Moreover, as part of the maritime collaboration between Philippines and Japan, Ariake Shoji Co., Ltd. acknowledged the three Lacsonian students who are going to be part of companyโs student program, the Ariake Shoji Student Program.
Midshipman Carlos Manuel V. Maรฑas of JBLFMU-A, Mdpn. Frenz John G. Estores of John B. Lacson Colleges Foundation- Bacolod, and Mdpn. Lloyd J. Loreto Jr. of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University-Molo, Inc. qualified for the said student program.
These midshipmen will be flying to Japan to have engage in an educational visit in the company.
Yesterdayโs endeavor was a way of the university to learn from an international aspect, specifically, learning from Japanese insights on how the maritime shipping works and how their domestic ships affect the global trade.
In attendance during the academic exchange and research forum were selected midshipmen from the three units of the university.
This initiative aligns with the universityโs commitment to the following United Nations Sustainable Development Goals: Decent Work and Economic Growth (UNSDG 8, Quality Education (UNSDG 4), and Partnership for the Goals (UNSDG 17).
