ILOILO CITY, Philippines -- To encourage the youth of Sto. Niño Sur, Arevalo to incorporate Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of their daily lives, four students of John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University - (Arevalo) Inc. launched 'Project AMLIG' together with Iloilo City Local Government Unit (LGU) and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO).

Focused mainly on theoretical and hands-on applications regarding disaster preparedness and environmental awareness, Project AMLIG is Philippines’ official entry to CityNet Yokohama Project Office’s 2022 Youth SDGs Action Project.

Moreover, the seven-month long project gave emphasis to activities anchored on the United Nations’ SDGs 4 (Education), 11(Resilient Communities), and 14 (Life Below Water).

The minds behind this feat were Mdpn. John Michael Peñolbo as the Project Leader with Mdpwn. Kezia Camille Tenefrancia, Mdpn. Marc Gerard Camba, and Mdpn. Angelo Mari Gonzales.

The project was then finally presented by the students to spectators from Yokohama City, Japan via Zoom on Friday, January 13.
