John B. Lacson Foundation Maritime University (Arevalo), Inc. launched its first ever Environmental Advocacy Day with a morning symposium at the JBL Hall, November 15, 2024.

With a theme of "Think Green, Live Green: Building a Sustainable Future Together," the event started off where students and instructors of the university listened to noteworthy discussions of Mr. Erwin S. Militar, Agricultural Technician from the Department of Agriculture, and Mr. Rudelio F. Subade, Ph.D., the Dean of the University of the Philippines Visayas Graduate School, in promoting the wellness of the environment.

After the symposium, Dr. Belinda E. Gavadan, Dr. Brian Gil S. Sarinas, and 2/M Louie Lloyd G. Lamprea presented their environmental manuscripts.

During the afternoon program, various clubs and organizations took part in the Mr. and Mrs. Trashformation, whilst UK Digital Expert in Maritime, Mr. Carl King, made a surprise appearance and reminded Lacsonians about the proper use of social media as a future seafarer.

Also, in the said event, students showcased their talents and skills as they participated in different contests such as environmental poster making, slogan writing, digital logo making, nature photography, and environmental dance.

Environmental Advocacy Day was inaugurated to enhance educational awareness of the students about the environment through activities focused on environmental themes and sustainability.
